The Iran war is demonstrating the clear danger of relying on volatile oil and gas supply chains. Canada does not have a strategic petroleum reserve, and we export 97% of our oil to the United States. Due to free trade agreements, we are not allowed to reduce our energy exports to the US below historical levels – even in a crisis. Fortunately, cheaper and more secure alternative sources of energy are now available. Renewable electricity is the cheapest form of power in history, lowering utility bills for Canadians – and it can be produced right here at home.

Some separatist organizations have reportedly been in talks with the Trump administration about a “transition loan” to help Alberta separate and possibly even become the 51st state. Oil price spikes due to the Iran war are causing prices to skyrocket across the economy. Oil and gas companies are set to make an extra $90 billion this year, while working Canadians struggle with expensive groceries and unaffordable housing. Since 2022, energy-related inflation has already cost the average Canadian household $12,000. Two in three Canadians support a tax on excess profits for oil and gas companies.

U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) has detained over 400,000 people in the last year, including 6000+ children. Earlier this year, a Canadian armoured-vehicle manufacturer known as Roshel was set to supply ICE with “a rush order” of 20 bomb-resistant vehicles. New research also shows that Canadian public pensions and banks have $35 billion invested in ICE contractors, including companies like Palantir, CoreCivic, and General Dynamics.

Under the guise of protecting Canada’s “national interest,” Prime Minister Carney has introduced a suite of new legislation to weaken public interest laws and roll back the right of First Nations to free, prior, and informed consent. With these Trump-style policies, Mark Carney is undermining decades of democratic reforms, allowing corporations to sidestep laws with impunity, and expand surveillance powers for the federal government.

Canadian provincial and federal governments are pouring billions of public dollars into an American-owned O&G infrastructure in British Columbia with ties to Donald Trump and Jeffrey Epstein. The Ksi Lisims LNG export terminal is 100% US-owned, backed by American private equity firms like Blackstone and Apollo. The firm leading the construction of the Prince Rupert Gas Transmission (PRGT) pipeline is Bechtel, a major multinational firm with significant ties to the U.S. government.
